Frantz Garden Center is proud to host family-friendly events twice a year, once in the spring, and once in the fall. These events often include free workshops led by industry experts, and fun hands-on activities for the whole family. Do not forget to sign up for the classes, as space is limited.

FreeBring your family and friends to our annual Fall Family Event on Saturday, October 12th! All workshops are free, entertaining and educational. Don’t forget to sign in at our welcoming table for a chance to win a 15g citrus tree of your choice ($120.00 retail value)! Drawing will take place at 3 p.m.
*Prize does not include delivery, installation or warranty. You must be present to sign up with your email address at the table. Prize applies to stock on hand.
8:00am – 10am | Early birds! Join us for coffee and muffins
8:30am | Make a Hypertufa Pot with Peggy Barse
Make a one-of-a-kind piece of garden art using the centuries old technique of Hypertufa. We’ll provide the molding and supplies. Plan to get dirty, so wear play clothes and bring your gloves and remove jewelry! The pot will remain at the nursery to “set” until Monday, then you can gently transport it home. It will need to be in a shady spot to “cure”.
This workshop requires that you register below.
10:00am | Veggie Extravaganza with Amy Lomeli
Please bring the kiddos to our veggie patch (on the corner) to help us plant our winter garden. They will learn a thing or two from Amy Lomeli (friend to the nursery and gardener extraordinaire). Adults: while you wait for the kiddos, take advantage of our complementary herb-potting station. Fill a peat pot with our Frantz planting mix and one herb or winter vegetable to enjoy all season.
10:00am – 12:00pm | Organic Gardening, Soils and Fertilizers
Chat with David Benningfield, the regional sales representative for Kellog’s Garden Supply. He supplies our garden center with organic soil blends and soil amendments for any and all plants that we sell. The soils are OMRI (Organic Materials Review Institute) certified. While it’s not that important that a shade tree has an organic soil, it’s pretty great that we can sell the same soils for fruit trees and vegetables.
10:00am – 2:00pm | Face Painting for the Kids
11:00am & 1:00pm | Zebra Tram Ride
Discover our growing grounds and get to know the Frantz zebras. Jenny will be leading these tours. Please be seated 5 to 10 minutes before departure as bus leaves the Garden Center on time. Children must be accompanied by an adult!
10:00am – 2pm | Art in the Garden for Kids
We will be decorating the outside of a plump pumpkin with various materials on hand. This is a free make- and- take event! Plan to get your hands dirty and have some fun. This open-air art studio will be located in the shade house, just beyond the succulent shopping area.
