Frantz Garden Center is proud to host family-friendly events twice a year, once in the spring, and once in the fall. These events often include free workshops led by industry experts, and fun hands-on activities for the whole family.

Fall Family Event

Bring your family and friends to our Annual Fall Family Event on Saturday October 20th! We offer free seminars and workshops that will inform, educate, and entertain. RSVP for individual workshops below.

Don’t forget to sign in at our welcoming table for a chance to win a 24″ boxed Crape Myrtle tree, $225 retail value!* Drawing will take place at 2 p.m.

10:00am: Shade Tree Seminar

Need professional advice to choose a shade tree for your house? Shelby Hall, professional landscape designer will be giving advice and tips to choose the perfect shade tree for your yard. This is a group session, feel free to bring photos to share at the seminar. Shelby Hall is a great friend of the nursery and has many years of experience designing amazing landscapes in the Central Valley. Seminar starts at 10:00am! Please be seated 5 minutes before. This seminar is free, space is limited, so you must reserve your spot in advance.

11:00 am, 12:30pm & 1:30pm: Free Zebra Tram Ride

This is a great opportunity to discover our growing grounds and get to know our onsite zebras. Joe will be leading these tours (first come, first serve). Please be seated 5 to 10 minutes before. Children must be accompanied by an adult!

11:30am: Save Time, Water & Money by Organic Gardening with David Wayne Benningfield  

Join our guest speaker and friend of the nursery, David Wayne Benningfield. Born and raised in Sanger, California, he likes to spend time exploring the Sierra Nevada Mountains. He’s passionate about gardening and growing food from seed. It gives him great satisfaction to see vegetables grow from the smallest seed into something that provides a continual source of life. He will discuss how our plants grow and thrive naturally with organic fertilizers and soils as well as saving time, water and money. David has been with Kellogg’s Garden Supply for 12 years and is extremely knowledgeable about the benefits of organic gardening.

11:00-2:00pm: Petting Zoo for Kids

12:00-2:00pm: Free Refreshments

1:00pm: Free Fall Vegetable Planting Workshop for Kids

Brandon & Angie will be teaching children how to plant and care for Fall and Winter vegetables. The planting time will be at 1:00 p.m. Maximum of 20 kids. Plan to get dirty, so wear play clothes and bring your gloves. Children must be accompanied by an adult!
